Maya Bennett
I work out whether a product earns its place in your kitchen, or just its place on the shelf.
How I think about this
I care about one thing: whether a product actually earns its place in your kitchen, or just its place on the shelf. Half the gadgets that go viral are solving a problem you don't have, beautifully. So my job is to work out what a thing really does, how it works, what it's like to live with, and whether the ten minutes it saves are worth the fifteen minutes of cleaning it adds.
I won't pretend I've tested something I haven't. What I do is understand a product properly and explain it the way a friend who's done the homework would: here's what it's actually like, here's the catch, here's whether it's worth it for you. When it is, I'll say so plainly. When it isn't, I'll tell you what to do instead.
