Outdoor tools: I work out whether the expensive version changes the actual job or just the price.

How I think about this

Outdoor gear takes a beating that indoor gear never sees — sun, water, grit, and being left in a shed all winter. Half the price gap between a cheap tool and a premium one buys nothing but a nicer sticker; the other half is the difference between one season and ten. My job is to tell you which is which.

I read how a thing is built and where it's stressed, and separate the upgrades that change the work from the ones that just change the receipt. Researched, not field-tested, and I say so plainly.
