Kit for moving and being outside — I work out whether the upgrade actually changes anything.

How I think about this

Sports and outdoor gear runs on marketing about marginal gains, most of which you'll never feel. Some upgrades genuinely change the experience; most just change the logo and the price. I care about telling those two apart before you pay for the second one.

I read gear for what it's built to do, where it's stressed, and the catch the listing skips, then tell you whether the pricier version earns it for how you'll actually use it. Researched, not field-tested — and I say so.
