Is the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max worth it?
A top pick in Cell Phones on Amazon (#11 when we checked, Oct 30, 2026)
Worth it if It is worth considering if you want an unlocked 5G phone with a spacious 6.9-inch OLED display, 120Hz refresh rate, A18 Pro processor, and 256GB of storage for everyday use, games, and media.
Good to know: If you need water resistance, choose a model with a stated rating, since this iPhone is listed as not water resistant.
A large, fluid phone display for work and play
The Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max puts its main daily-use advantage right in front of you: a 6.9-inch OLED display with a stated 120Hz refresh rate. Apple’s listing describes the ProMotion experience as crisp and fluid, and positions the screen for movies, games, multitasking, and productivity apps. That gives you more room for reading, editing, watching, and switching between tasks on a spacious phone screen.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max pairs that large panel with 2868 × 1320 resolution and 460 pixels per inch. The resolution supports detailed viewing, while the 120Hz specification addresses motion smoothness. If much of your day happens on a screen, this is the design choice that earns its place.
The rest of the hardware supports that use. The A18 Pro processor, 8GB of RAM, iOS 18, and 256GB of storage provide a substantial core setup. You also get USB-C, Face Recognition, 5G, and an unlocked-for-all-carriers listing. The honest trade is physical scale: the 6.42-by-3.06-inch body weighs 7.99 ounces, so it suits buyers who welcome a large phone more than those seeking a compact, lighter model. It is also listed as not water resistant, which matters if that protection is a buying requirement.
You get a large OLED display, A18 Pro processing, 256GB of storage, 5G, USB-C, Face Recognition, and unlocked carrier compatibility in one renewed phone. The value case is strongest if you want one device for media, multitasking, and everyday communication.
Great for
- Buyers who want a 6.9-inch screen for media and multitasking
- Apple users who want A18 Pro processing and iOS 18
- People who need an unlocked 5G phone for carrier flexibility
- Users who want 256GB of storage for apps, photos, and video
Maybe not for you if
- You want a water-resistant phone, since this model is listed as not water resistant
- You prefer a compact phone, since this model measures 6.42 by 3.06 inches and weighs 7.99 ounces
- You want a new device rather than a renewed listing
The renewed Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max suits buyers who want a large-screen Apple phone with serious everyday hardware. Its 6.9-inch OLED display and 120Hz refresh rate fit media, games, reading, and multitasking, while the A18 Pro chip, 256GB storage, 5G, and unlocked status cover the core phone experience. Review the renewed condition details carefully because buyer feedback is mixed on scratches and overall experience. If the size and condition fit your expectations, it is a capable choice for screen-heavy days.
Amazon shoppers rate it 4.2 out of 5 across 4,215 ratings. That is their number, not ours.
