Is the Sloosh inflatable pool float worth it for adults?
Worth it, if you actually want to sit in the water, not just on it
Why flat pool rafts leave you baking in the sun
You already know the feeling: flop onto a flat pool raft and within five minutes you're sliding off one side while the sun fries the other. A sloosh inflatable pool float promises something different, a chair that holds its shape instead of a slippery slab, but can a blow up seat actually keep that promise once you're in the water?
How the Sloosh pool float chair actually keeps you cool
Here's the detail worth noticing: most pool floats are one solid cushion that sits on the water, which is why you end up baking from above while your legs dangle in a hot top layer. The Sloosh chair skips that single pad design. It's built around multiple fabric covered buoyancy tubes that wrap the seat, back and arms, with a mesh sling stretched between them for the actual seat. That mesh is the trick: instead of resting on a solid float, your body sinks into the sling and settles partway into the water itself, so the pool does the cooling instead of the sun. The tubes stay inflated and keep you from sinking further, while the fabric cover keeps the whole thing from feeling like you're perched on a beach ball. You adjust the back and arm rest once it's inflated, so the chair can go from upright, drink in hand, watching everyone else tread water, to reclined, actual nap territory, without touching the valve again. At 30 by 16 by 24 inches and just over a kilogram each, it deflates small enough for a beach bag, and the two pack means you're not the only one floating while someone else is stuck standing.
So this isn't really a raft, it's a chair that happens to float, with a mesh seat that lets your body settle into the water instead of resting on top of it. If staying cool matters more to you than staying dry, that trade works in your favor.
Who the Sloosh pool float chair is for, and who should skip it
Worth it if
- You want to sit partly submerged in the water instead of floating on top of it
- You're floating with a friend or partner and want two chairs at once
- You want adjustable back and arm position without re inflating anything
- You need something that packs down small for storage or travel
Skip it if
- You want to stay fully dry while lounging
- You're looking for a flat, firm surface for sunbathing or napping
- You need a float sized for a child rather than an adult
Not for anyone who wants to stay bone dry while lounging, the mesh seat is built to sit in the water.
The Sloosh inflatable pool float verdict
If you want to be in the pool without working to stay afloat, legs dangling through mesh, drink in hand, this is a quiet yes, especially since it comes in two. If you're after a dry sunbathing surface or a firm platform to nap flat on, a solid raft suits you better, this one is built to get wet.
The annoying mid afternoon choice between baking on a raft or standing in waist deep water until your legs cramp goes away here. Day one looks like inflating two chairs in a few minutes, settling into the mesh seat, adjusting the arm rest, and actually cooling off instead of sweating on a float. That's the whole appeal, and it doesn't take a production to get there.
