Is the Regalo Safety 29" baby gate worth it?
A top pick in Safety on Amazon (#12 when we checked, Oct 23, 2026)
Worth it if you need a pressure-mounted walk-through gate for a 29–32 inch or 35.5–38.5 inch doorway and want a metal barrier for babies 6–24 months or small to medium pets. The included 6-inch extension covers the wider opening range.
Good to know: If your opening is 32–35.5 inches, or you need a gate for the top of stairs, look for a model designed for that measurement or placement.
A walk-through baby gate that makes everyday boundaries simpler
The counter matters here: a gate can be easy to live with and still be the wrong fit for one doorway. The Regalo Safety 29" is a metal, pressure-mounted gate that adjusts across two specific opening ranges: 29–32 inches without the extension, or 35.5–38.5 inches with the included 6-inch extension. That measurement check comes first because 32–35.5 inches is not covered by this setup.
Once it fits, the walk-through design gives adults a way through without removing the gate. The secure locking system helps keep the door closed after you pass, while the 30-inch height creates a defined boundary for babies aged 6–24 months and small to medium pets. This is the practical choice for doorways, hallways, and the bottom of stairs.
The pressure-mount design is the main daily-use decision. It avoids a permanent installation, but the listing specifically requires wall cups to keep the gate securely in place, so setup is not a step to skip. The placement rule is just as clear: this gate is not for the top of stairs. Used in the stated locations, it gives you a repeatable way to separate a child or pet from part of the home while adults keep moving through.
You get a metal walk-through gate, pressure-mount setup, and a 6-inch extension in one package. It can serve a doorway, hallway, bottom-of-stairs area, or small to medium pet boundary when the opening falls within its stated ranges.
Great for
- Doorways measuring 29–32 inches
- Openings measuring 35.5–38.5 inches with the included 6-inch extension
- Families baby-proofing for ages 6–24 months
- Small to medium pet boundaries
- Bottom-of-stairs or hallway use
Maybe not for you if
- Your opening measures 32–35.5 inches
- You need a gate for the top of stairs
- You need a different mounting style than pressure mount
The Regalo Safety 29" earns its place for families who need a straightforward walk-through barrier in a doorway, hallway, or at the bottom of stairs. Its useful range is specific, so measure before ordering: it fits 29–32 inches without the extension and 35.5–38.5 inches with it. The pressure mount and required wall cups support a practical setup, while the metal frame suits babies 6–24 months and small to medium pets. Choose it for the right opening and placement, and daily movement stays simpler.
Amazon shoppers rate it 4.4 out of 5 across 175,013 ratings. That is their number, not ours.
