Is the KOHLER Cachet ReadyLatch worth it?
A top pick in Tools & DIY on Amazon (#4 when we checked, Oct 12, 2026)
Worth it if you have an elongated toilet and want a contoured seat with quiet-close operation, above-bowl installation, and a latch that makes cleaning easier.
Good to know: If you need a round seat or a precisely confirmed toilet fit, check your bowl shape and measurements before opening the package.
An elongated toilet seat that installs and removes from above
The KOHLER Cachet ReadyLatch Elongated Slow Close is built around a small but useful choice: the installation hardware works from above the bowl. You can fasten the seat with a screwdriver without reaching underneath, which makes the fitting job more manageable in a cramped bathroom.
The ReadyLatch hinge gives the seat a positive lock and unlock action. Locked in place, it is designed to hold the seat in position. Released, the seat lifts away for cleaning or fit adjustments. That cause and effect matters because a toilet seat is not a one-time fitting. You still need to clean around the hinges and the bowl, and removal gives you access without treating the seat as permanently fixed.
Grip-Tight bumpers support the same daily goal. The listing says they hold the seat firmly in place, while the contoured plastic seat is shaped with comfort in mind. The lid and seat are also designed to close quietly rather than slam. Together, the useful value is less about extra controls and more about a straightforward fitting and cleaning routine, provided your toilet is elongated and compatible.
You get one white, contoured elongated toilet seat with Quiet-Close operation, hardware, above-bowl installation, and a removable ReadyLatch hinge. It can replace a separate seat and the awkward under-bowl tightening step.
Great for
- Elongated toilets needing a replacement seat
- Bathrooms where above-bowl installation is easier
- Anyone who wants quiet-close operation
- Homes that value removable hardware for cleaning
Maybe not for you if
- You have a round toilet bowl
- You need a fit confirmed beyond the listing's most elongated toilets
- You prefer a different seat shape or material
The KOHLER Cachet ReadyLatch makes sense for an elongated toilet where easy fitting and simpler cleaning matter. Its above-bowl hardware avoids reaching under the bowl, while the ReadyLatch hinge releases for access and the Grip-Tight bumpers are designed to keep the seat steady. Quiet-close operation and a contoured shape round out the everyday conveniences. Check your toilet shape and fit first, especially because opened seats may not be returnable to Kohler. For the right elongated bowl, it keeps the routine simple.
Amazon shoppers rate it 4.3 out of 5 across 9,385 ratings. That is their number, not ours.
