Is the HP 63/65 Tri worth it?
A top pick in Office Electronics on Amazon (#5 when we checked, Oct 19, 2026)
Worth it if you have a compatible HP DeskJet, Envy, or OfficeJet printer and want one genuine tri-color cartridge that replaces either HP 63 or 65 while delivering about 100 pages. It suits everyday documents, school work, and occasional color images.
Good to know: If you print large color jobs often, look for a higher-yield cartridge or a printer system designed for larger ink capacity.
A tri-color ink cartridge for simpler everyday printing
The HP 63/65 Tri makes the fit question unusually practical: its listed design works with both HP 63 and HP 65 cartridge slots. HP 63 and HP 65 are not interchangeable labels on every printer, so a cartridge that supports both can simplify replacement when your compatible model is listed. Check your exact printer before ordering, since the supported range matters more than the cartridge name alone.
The cartridge uses tri-color ink, so cyan, magenta, and yellow are supplied together in one unit. That gives you a straightforward replacement for ordinary color pages, school projects, office documents, and occasional images. The listing gives an approximate yield of 100 pages, which is a useful planning figure for light or moderate printing rather than a promise of unlimited color output.
The other practical choice is that this is a genuine HP cartridge. The maker says it is engineered for HP printers and designed for consistent quality and reliability. That means the purchase is centered on a direct, model-specific replacement rather than adapting a generic cartridge. For a compatible HP printer, the benefit is simple: one cartridge, several supported printer families, and color ink ready for routine pages.
You get one genuine tri-color cartridge with an approximate 100-page yield and compatibility with listed HP DeskJet, Envy, and OfficeJet models. Its value is strongest when you want a direct replacement for everyday color printing without buying separate color cartridges.
Great for
- HP DeskJet, Envy, or OfficeJet owners with a listed compatible model
- Households printing school projects and everyday color documents
- Small offices needing occasional color pages
- Shoppers replacing an HP 63 or HP 65 tri-color cartridge
Maybe not for you if
- You print high volumes of color pages and need a larger stated yield
- You need black ink rather than a tri-color cartridge
- Your exact printer model is not listed, so a model-specific fit check is needed
The HP 63/65 Tri is a sensible choice for owners of compatible HP DeskJet, Envy, and OfficeJet printers who need dependable color for routine documents, school work, home printing, or occasional images. Its main convenience is the combined support for HP 63 and 65 cartridge slots, while the genuine HP design keeps the replacement straightforward. With an approximate 100-page yield, it fits light to moderate use best. Check your exact printer model first, then it gives you simple color printing for the pages that matter.
Amazon shoppers rate it 4.3 out of 5 across 550 ratings. That is their number, not ours.
