Is the BLACK+DECKER Cord Reel Iron worth it?
A top pick in Irons & Steamers on Amazon (#2 when we checked, Oct 17, 2026)
Worth it if It is worth considering if you want one iron for dry ironing, spray mist, steam, and vertical steaming, with an 8-foot retractable cord that keeps storage tidy. The stainless steel sole plate, burst of steam, and 250ml tank suit regular wrinkle touch-ups at home.
Good to know: If you need a larger water tank or a longer cord than 8 feet, look for a model with those specific dimensions.
A Retractable-Cord Steam Iron That Keeps Storage Tidy
The BLACK+DECKER Cord Reel Iron earns its place through one simple design choice: the automatic cord reel. Pull the 8-foot cord out when you need room to work, then retract it for storage. That keeps loose cable from trailing across a shelf or tangling around the iron, so putting it away takes less space and less fuss.
The iron itself is built around a stainless steel sole plate, which the maker says offers 2X more durability than standard ceramic. That gives the base a durable material for pressing clothes, while the 1200-watt iron handles dry ironing, spray mist, steaming, and vertical steaming. A burst of steam targets stubborn wrinkles, and the spray mist button adds moisture quickly when a fabric needs it.
The 250ml water tank supports steam use, while the anti-drip system is designed to prevent water spotting at lower temperatures. There is also an Auto Clean selector that uses hot water and steam through the vents, following the manual's guidance. In daily terms, you get a compact setup for clothes and draperies, with the cord reel making the final storage step cleaner.
You get one 2.3-pound iron with dry, spray-mist, steam, and vertical-steaming options, plus a retractable 8-foot cord and auto-clean feature. That combination covers several common wrinkle jobs without needing a separate garment steamer.

Maybe not for you if

- You need a cord longer than 8 feet
- You want a different size or feature set, so check those specifications first
The BLACK+DECKER Cord Reel Iron is a sensible fit for shoppers who want flexible wrinkle care without a messy storage setup. Its retractable 8-foot cord is the standout convenience, while the stainless steel sole plate, burst of steam, spray mist, anti-drip system, and vertical steaming cover everyday clothing and drapery tasks. The 2.3-pound design is also suited to buyers who prefer a lighter iron to handle. Choose a different model if your priority is a larger tank or a longer reach, but this one keeps routine ironing straightforward and storage neat.
