Is the Apple 70W USB-C Power Adapter worth it?
A top pick in Computers on Amazon (#2 when we checked, Oct 18, 2026)
Worth it if you need a compact 70W USB-C charger for a compatible MacBook Air or 14-inch MacBook Pro, especially for faster charging on MacBook Air models from 2022 onward. It is also compatible with numerous other USB-C devices.
Good to know: If you need to charge several devices at once, look for a charger with more than one USB port.
A 70W USB-C laptop charger for faster, simpler charging
The Apple 70W USB is a single-port USB-C power adapter built around one useful choice: 70 watts of output in a compact, lightweight charger. The listing gives package dimensions of 3.9 x 3.86 x 1.34 inches and an item weight of 6.7 ounces, so it is suited to moving between home, office, and travel rather than staying hidden behind a desk.
That wattage matters most with the right laptop. Apple recommends pairing this adapter with a 14-inch MacBook Pro or a 13-inch or 15-inch MacBook Air, using either a USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable or a USB-C Charge Cable. With MacBook Air models from 2022 onward, Apple says it can provide up to a 50 percent charge in around 30 minutes. Charge time varies with settings and environmental factors, so treat that as the maker's stated result, not a guarantee for every session.
The practical trade is straightforward. You get one USB-C charging connection, fast charging support, a retractable plug, and a charger that weighs 6.7 ounces. The cable is not included, so your total setup requires a compatible cable as well. For one compatible laptop and a travel-friendly charger, that is the whole proposition.
You are paying for a 70W Apple adapter with fast-charging support, a retractable plug, and compatibility across numerous USB-C devices. It can serve as one charger for a compatible MacBook and smaller Apple devices, but the cable is purchased separately.
Great for
- MacBook Air owners from 2022 onward who want Apple's stated fast-charging support
- 14-inch MacBook Pro owners needing a 70W USB-C adapter
- Travelers moving a charger between home, office, and bag
- Apple users with several compatible USB-C devices
- Buyers who prefer a retractable plug and lightweight design
Maybe not for you if
- You need to charge multiple devices at the same time
- You already need a cable included in the box
- Your laptop is not among the listed compatible devices
The Apple 70W USB-C Power Adapter is worth considering if your main target is a compatible MacBook Air or 14-inch MacBook Pro and you want one compact charger for home, work, or travel. Its 70W output supports Apple's stated fast-charging use with MacBook Air models from 2022 onward, while USB-C compatibility gives it wider use with other devices. The single port keeps the design simple, but households charging several devices together should choose a multi-port model. For the right laptop, it delivers straightforward charging.
Amazon shoppers rate it 4.8 out of 5 across 561 ratings. That is their number, not ours.
